Chamma Ling Centre Renovation Project
Joy of Joined Efforts to Create Ligmincha Europe Centre

In 2004, through the efforts of a group of Bön tradition practitioners, the Garuda Buddhist Association, currently operating as Ligmincha Polska, founded (purchased) the Chamma Ling centre in Wilga. It was an old holiday centre of camping cabins located in the beautiful forests in the valley of the Vistula (Polish: Wisła), the queen of Polish rivers. Every year, Chamma Ling hosts outstanding teachers of Bön tradition who pass on its teachings and wisdom. According to Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's guidelines, the mission of the centre is to propagate the ancient teachings and practices of Bön in the modern world, in the spirit of compassion and peace between humans. Wilga is a unique place allowing visitors to develop a spiritual practice, contemplate, and pass time in retreat in contact with living nature. A beautiful Gompa was erected on the centre’s grounds and a number of cabins and infrastructure facilities were renovated. The age of most of the cabins used as accommodation for practitioners ranges between 40-50 years, so they require a major overhaul or complete reconstruction.

We plan to revitalise the Chamma Ling centre in accordance with nature to make it a place where our European community can meet and practice together. The work on the project was inspired by Rinpoche and it has his full support and blessing. At the same time, the Centre is to be a place open to all those who spread the teachings of Dharma in the ecumenical spirit. We trust that with the joint effort of all practitioners and people of goodwill Chamma Ling will acquire a new form and functionality necessary for the organisation of retreats and courses. We want to achieve this goal within 3-5 years.

Below we present the work plan and associated cost estimates. Currently, we do not have the funds to carry out all the required work, so we count on your generosity and assistance. The project of revitalization of Chamma Ling into the European Ligmincha Centre will be carried out in compliance with the applicable project management and transparency standards. This website will successively report on the commencement of works and their progress.

Stage 1

Stage duration: 1-2 years. Works to commence upon accumulating 15% of the funds required to complete Stage 1.
Large cabin renovation – EUR 10 thousand each
Total of 10 cabins = EUR 100 thousand

Renovation of the existing large wooden cabins will prevent their degradation and create accommodation for 60 practitioners. Renovation of these cabins will be carried out in accordance with nature and the maximum possible use of recycled materials.

(Large Cabin no. 8 after renovation)

Renovation of the old Gompa - EUR 100 thousand (24 beds, hall with capacity of 60 people, small kitchen. These works will allow us to create the space for small retreats and thematic courses.

Stage 2
Stage duration: 2-3 years.
Small cabin construction – EUR 20 thousand each
Total of 10 cabins = EUR 200 thousand

These cabins will replace the completely worn-out bungalows from the 1960s, which are very damp and do not meet the required standards. The new cabins will provide accommodation for 40-60 people during the courses. They will also be used for individual retreats conducted with the support of the Lama Resident.

Waterworks overhaul - EUR 25 thousand. Repair of the water supply network is necessary due to the high degree of pipe wear and frequent failures resulting in water loss.

Kitchen renovation - EUR 50 thousand. In its current state, the kitchen does not meet the standards and during retreats the use of expensive catering is necessary.

Sewage system renovation - EUR 35 thousand. The existing sewage collection system in non-effluent tanks is outdated. Thanks to current maintenance and repairs, the system is efficient but does not meet the needs associated with a stay of larger numbers of practitioners in the centre. The sewage system has to be rebuilt and several micro sewage treatment plants have to be installed.
